How to play
Setup. The three tigers begin inside the den, the double ring at the top. All sixteen goats start in hand. Goats move first.
Phase 1, the herd comes in. Each goat turn places one goat on any empty point. Goats cannot move until every goat has been placed. Tigers move on each of their turns: one step along a line to an adjacent empty point, or a hunt.
The hunt. A tiger leaps along a line over one adjacent goat into the empty point directly behind it, and that goat is eaten. Only one goat per turn. Tigers never jump other tigers, and goats never jump anything.
Phase 2, the herd moves. Once all sixteen are on the board, a goat turn moves one goat a single step along a line to an adjacent empty point.
Goats win by hemming in all three tigers so that no tiger has a legal step or leap on the tigers' turn.
Tigers win by eating goats until the herd is too small to ever trap them. On this board, with five goats or fewer no arrangement can block three tigers, so the eleventh capture ends the game. The box rule of eating all sixteen is available as an option.
The den. The three den points sit on one ring, so each is adjacent to the other two, and a tiger can leap around the ring over a goat that wanders in.
