How to play
Board. Three concentric squares joined by lines at the middle of each side: twenty-four points. Each player has nine pebbles, jamun and haldi. The board starts empty and jamun places first.
Phase 1, placement. Take turns placing one pebble on any empty point. Three of your pebbles in a straight line along a drawn line make a mill: remove one enemy pebble at once. Pebbles standing in a mill are protected unless the enemy has nothing else to take.
Phase 2, movement. Once all eighteen pebbles are placed, slide one pebble per turn along a line to an adjacent empty point. No jumping. Making a new mill removes an enemy pebble as before; opening a mill and closing it again counts as new.
Winning. Reduce your opponent to two pebbles, or leave them with no legal move on their turn.
Some traditions also cap reopening the same mill at three times; this version does not enforce that cap. Sixty moves without a capture in the movement phase end the game as a draw.
