How it works

Placeholders. {n} is the page number, {total} the count and {date} today as an ISO date. Unknown braces are left alone, because {ref} in a running head may be exactly what you want.

Same engine as watermarks. Placement, margins and page rotation are handled by the same code that positions watermarks and page numbers, so the six boxes land where you expect on every page.

Fonts. Built-in Latin fonts only; anything they cannot draw is named before the first page is written.
